After graduating in Commerce, he did his ICWA from the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) and is a fellow member of the ICWAI. He is a Member of the Executive Committee of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) & Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) & currently a member of Task Force on Chemicals appointed by the Government of India.

A Chemical Engineering Graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Hari has been conferred Distinguished Alumni award by Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in the year 2000.
